Clinical Trials

UK Hospitals and NHS Clinics wanted to trial new Cardiology Point of Care Analyzer.

Canadian Company seeking FDA approval are looking for Academic and Commercial test beds for their POC.

The Canadian Company is dedicated to developing more sensitive diagnostic test products to the IVD market. They have started several developmental processes aimed to achieve their objective “to create, develop and commercialise superior, innovative, cost-effective and patent-protected products for the IVD based on proprietary technologies”.

Their operating philosophy is that “better diagnosis enhances the healthcare professionals' ability to provide better patient management which saves lives and reduces healthcare costs”. Fulfilling unmet clinical testing needs is the driving force behind their innovations.

The QLCA represents a shift in the design POC analyzers. The QLCA is small, portable, stand-alone and completely automated POC immunoanalyzer. The QLCA has successfully miniaturized lab test technology, and combined it with a simplified mechanical design and proprietary triggering mechanism. The QL Care Analyzer was built on a core technology developed specifically for this purpose.

The QLCA uses a pre-loaded disposable test cartridge. A non-metered whole blood sample is added to the cartridge to obtain a test result, printed and archived, in 15 minutes, a true walk-away testing. The QLCA employs chemical light generation or chemiluminescence (CL), the same technology used in medical labs. The QLCA uses a patented automated electronic process to trigger CL, which enhances light collection, speeds up marker binding and increases sensitivity. With 6 easy steps, quantitative testing results are generated within 15 minutes.

Clinical Trial - Tests

A Troponin I (TnI) Test is the current routine testing for a heart attack. TnI is a heart muscle protein, released in the bloodstream shortly after a heart attack (myocardial infarction or MI). Current laboratory analyzers cannot detect TnI before 4-6 hours after the onset of symptoms, when TnI concentration in the blood reaches its detection threshold. With the POC immunoanalyzer, the TnI test only takes 15 minutes to deliver quantitative results, allowing for better management of patients.

The Company requires testing of patients who present with myocardial infarction symptoms and patients who have been diagnosed with myocardial infarction. The test should last for 30 to 60 days and results will be co-ordinated and collected. The test can be academic or commercial, this can be discussed prior to the tests beginning.
